This is my first post here, not sure what to write as yet but look out once I warm up, I have been known to be a bit of a chatter box although I don't get much time lately. I wonder if anyone who owns horses or any animals has much spare time at the end of each day?
It seems you start with horses then you add family, top it off with a business and that's the end of ever having any spare time! Not that I would change it, I just wish for more hours in a day but then don't we all?
By now you have gathered I am involved with a business, hard to be brief but I will try (told you I am a chatter box) my husband and I started manufacturing horse gear when our girls were very young. Originally we made gear just for our horses, it was all about colours (still is) back then you couldn't buy much with colours.
We have 3 girls riding and it became a problem with the riding gear being all the same colour. You can image the disputes we had to settle when it came to saddling up the horses, all you could hear is no, that's mine. Anyway, it led us to the path of making saddle cloths and blankets for our girls in their choice of colours, problem solved. Of course it didn't end there, when we went to Pony Club or competitions we started getting requests for similar items until eventually we were no longer able to call it a hobby. That's a quick run down of how we started.
Nowadays we have a lot more products although our Saddle Cloths & Blankets are still our main line and most popular. We proudly manufacture in Country Victoria, Australia and all our products are labeled and come with the Australian Made Tag.
As much as it can be tiring some days we love it! Neither my husband (Geoff) or I can imagine doing anything else. It just seems so special to be making things from scratch for others, you get to see a product take shape, when its finished you even get to stand back and admire the handiwork, well o.k so the machines really do most of the job but it is a very rewarding and satisfying job, especially for me.
I am usually the one to answer the phone (the rest of the family are too darn slow) which means I get to talk to the customers and take orders (remember... I am a bit of a chatter box) I also do all the emails, again, they are all too slow and I like to answer emails asap.
Oh goodness.. Well you can't say I didn't warn you that I can be a chatterbox!
Happy Riding! Anita
